A website about the family name Mengerink. What were (are) the reasons to make this site. Curiosity of course. Curiosity about the history and origin of that name. But it needs more to publish a website like this.

I hope future generations will find the basis of their existence in this site, namely their roots, their ancestors. I hope, with this website, to contribute to what is most essential to a family name: the ties between past, present and future that must be preserved. Thanks to the contributions of many, among them some enthousiastic American Mengerinks and a German genealogist, I hope to have contributed to genealogy in general and the research for our family name in special.

But there is more ! Born and raised in Neede, the origin of many Mengerinks, that towns' history and that of its inhabitants has always interested me. And my family name is as "Needs" as can be ... I thought. Two triggers to start working. And as ever: there is some good and some bad news to this.
The bad news is that the family name Mengerink might not originate in Neede at all.
The good news is that Neede had a much richer past then many believe. More about that in the Neede pages on this website.

Something about "Copyright". All material and all content is freely available to everyone who might think he or she can use it to continue and extend my work, on the condition of course that it is not misused in anyway. Please let me know if you found anything you could use. But I would like to warn you about using the information on this website about Neede in another context then this website. These stories about Neede are really subjective. Coloured by my youth in a town that slowly was loosing it's history. I'm not telling nonsense or lies in these pages, but for some the words I spend on Neede might lead to some comments. So be it ... everybodies opinion, be it pro or con, is welcome.

Please notice that the textual content of the english language part of this website is (a) a subset of the dutch language part and that (b) the text itself is changed and amended at some points to service readers who might not have the knowledge of all Dutch circumstances. Please be assured that this is not done for reasons of time or less interest, or whatever wrong motivation. It is done to service the non-Dutch visitors as best as possible, without having to swim through unneeded Dutch junk. But if you find that there might be anything left out you might need, please feel free to contact me.

I want to end with a request to all who might think they can contribute to this site: send me an email. The email address is on the Contact page. All contibutions are welcome.
